The early season, mid-season and late season droughts affect crop stand and production to different extents basing on their intensity, duration and type and stage of the crops. Some time, there prevails drought like situation in many districts due to deficit rainfall during peak transplanting period of Sali rice (July –August). As a result, either farmer cannot transplant Sali seedlings in the main field or the standing crops in the main field suffer from water stress conditions affecting the yield drastically.
